Freedom Park

This 98-acre public park is right in the middle of Charlotte between the Dilworth and Myers Park neighborhoods and is centered on a 7-acre lake. Proposed in 1945 as a facility to honor war heroes and with $200,000 allocated, it opened in the summer of 1947. It’s a favorite of Charlotte residents and has been lovingly called Charlotte’s Central Park.
