Duke Mansion

Architect C. C. Hook designed the home and it was built in Colonial Revival style in 1915 by Zeb Taylor, a utilities executive. James Buchanan Duke purchased it in 1919 and tripled its size to 45 rooms and 12 baths. Duke was the father of American heiress and philanthropist Doris Duke. Today the home is a historic inn and meeting center.
